Works on Paper
In her works on paper, Spatz-Rabinowitz transfers her original photographs to various prepared paper substrates. Expression and meaning develop as the landscapes—often fragmentary to begin with due to the unpredictability of the transfer process—are smudged, sanded, or otherwise obliterated.  In an act of salvage, the artist uses oil paint to resurrect and reclaim small places of surviving luminosity.
